Refuelling can be so much fun: Unusual marriage proposal

24-01-2018

Elmshorn, 4. December, 2017 – An unusual marriage proposal, rescuing a baby cat, and horses making a pit stop – a lot more happens than you would expect at petrol stations. The three most unusual stories, which took place in 2017 at star petrol stations in Germany, include humour and a lot of romance.

1st place: a different kind of marriage proposal
Nobody would reckon with a marriage proposal at a petrol station. And star employee Frank made use of this to produce a real surprise – a red carpet with a heart made of roses was waiting for his unsuspecting girlfriend, Petra, when she entered the star petrol station in Mockrehna. Frank knelt down on the carpet and asked Petra to marry him, who accepted with a tear in her eye. Both are employees of the star petrol station, have been a couple for seven years and have planned on marrying for quite some time now. However, because there had not been a real proposal, Frank decide to surprise Petra with his curios and very personal idea, which became the most moving star story of the year.

2nd place: Horses making a pit stop
Astrid Lindgren couldn't have written it any better: Michael Ohmann, star petrol station partner from Vreden, couldn't believe his eyes when he saw some real horse power at the petrol pumps. Just like in a Pippi Longstocking story, two schoolgirls had ridden in to his petrol station. "We don't have any hay here unfortunately", said Michael. But that wasn't actually needed, thanks to the strip of grass next to the pumps. The helpful petrol station partner did however provide two buckets of water for the thirsty horses, which meant the girls could continue with their ride with two refreshed horses.

3rd place: Kitten in need of help
Third place in the top three most curious stories from last year involves the rescue of a small kitten. Marco Rohde, petrol station partner in Crimmitschau, and his staff found a neglected kitten. The mother and other kittens had moved off to find a new home, but unfortunately left one behind. Rohde, who is fond of animals, did not delay in rescuing the kitten and getting it back on its feet. When the mother returned in the evening to collect its "lost child", all of the staff were really relieved.
